The album is complete and has been uploaded to Distrokid. It is scheduled for release on all major (and some minor) streaming services on April 4th. Note, Distrokid has added some new platforms, so I will be pushing my older music out to those over the next few days. If everything holds as in the past, some platforms will probably release the song a little bit early, but all in all, it should be available on April 4th.
As a build up to this, I will be releasing some videos weekly as we approach this. Videos will be released in the order the songs are on the album (as we are still telling a story). I will also target this blog to be more focused on the new album. The story will be updated to take us through the end of this album and there will be some general changes to the website (about time).
For this update, I want to discuss song one (and 8), Third First Sunrise. The first song will be with the French Horn, and the eight will be without the French Horn (just synth). There are two versions as the Spacecraft can not perform with the French Horn in space (so song 1 is for Earth only, and song 8 is as they will perform in space).
Something I have alluded to was the roughness of my French Horn playing. So why include this song, why not just use the Synth version. This was highlighted in my blog update from Oct 20, 2020 (a long time ago now). My introduction to music was the French Horn. I took that instrument everywhere and a lot of music styles (Area Allstate performances, Band, Orchestra, Dance band, Marching Band). This was my gateway into music.
I owe a lot to the French Horn, as I would probably not be making music now if I did not start with it. I had the issues with sleep (as highlighted in the previous blog entry). The spacecraft and I agreed that even though the French Horn is not in space and part of this story, it is part of the overall story and deserves some time to shine. So that song will be included, and we might look for places to use it in the future.
Additionally, though it is rough, all the music is rough (if you are a listener you know). The spacecraft admitted we are learning as we go along this journey (that point will be fleshed out next post regarding the next album). Even for me, I have played lots of instruments, but never really any keyboard one (and this synthesis thing is new too). This album has been a great learning experience, I hope everyone likes it and we continue to look forward. Be back next week.
