Overlooked by the Grammy’s Again

Well, obviously not a surprise, not just were we not up for an award, I doubt the committee ever heard of us. However, this is a good time to discuss the state of the music “industry” in space. Comparing space to Earth, there really is not a music “industry” in space (in quotes as industry is a bit different especially when dealing with non-basic needs). If you think about that, it makes sense. Most of the communications uses some sort of telepathy. So many different races have their own languages that anything else would not work.

You work on a song, get all the words just right, they rhyme properly, syncopation and what the audience hears is in their own language and very different. Maybe they do not even have words in their language but something else. Just does not sound the same to them. Makes it hard for music to be universal (interestingly we call music one of the universal languages, apparently that is not so true).

Music is more of a local thing. Each planet, or region might have some music going on, but it would be more like our indie scene than big time labels. In a lot of these locations, music is used to both tell stories There is some music without lyrics, but again, since music never really made the jump from local to universal.

The visual arts are different. Here there has been more universal appeal. Not just are there many museums (and art moves from region to region so that all have opportunities to experience). Not just this, but somethings that we thing are natural phenomena (some of the nebula for example) are not natural, but works of art (but this could be a topic for another blog entry).

We are creating a paradigm shift in space (though as stated above the grammy committee could not pick us out of a line up). The spacecraft do not speak the words, which is why I have to do the singing. They “speak” with the music. They sort of have the words in mind, but are pushing out the story. The crowds can receive the story more directly, and it seems to translate across languages (and paradigms) better. Also keep in mind many of the songs do not have words (we will get those released on Earth eventually). However, the spacecraft can still push their emotions into the songs.

The spacecraft have been approached by other musical artists, and they are working with them. If all goes well, music might be able to cross borders in space more than it does now.

Still Working Back

Due to the recovery as well as the plethora of spring activities that need to get done, I am still a bit behind. As a catch up, I have been enjoying a bit of a swell in Apple Play Listens the last two

Been out a bit

Sorry for the lack of updates. I had a surgery last month, and then ended up back in the hospital due to complicates. I am recovering well at this point, and should be getting back at it soon. Unti
