Spotify Music League (and some new listens)

Before I get started, let’s welcome the new countries on the list of our listeners. They include Denmark, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Mexico, Turkey and Uruguay. Some notes later on how they came to join.
So I am a member of our home Spotify music league. This weeks category was very diabolical. Before they were famous, Bands with less than 10 listeners per month. Though I eventually found a song that I liked that fit this category, it was harder than I expected (you cannot search for this as anything returned is popular enough to have more than 10 listens). I found and incredible number of bands that had 2 digit listens (some with sorta weird names and very limited number of songs). Sorta made me feel bad with the very low counts I get (it is either 2 or 3 per month on Spotify).
At least on Spotify, I do not earn anything (do not get paid for a song until you get over 1000 listens in a year – doubt I ever earn anything on Spotify in the future). Apple (and others) though pay for every listen. Something really great and strange happened on Apple about a month ago. For a two week period I started to get listens at a much higher rate (had about 200 listens during the two weeks). I do not know what happened. It was not one song, but spread out over multiple albums. Also not just one region, but all around the world (that was the greetings above to the new locations). Unfortunately, the numbers have fallen off greatly since then, maybe just higher than before. It was still fun to see the numbers tick up.
One good thing about the low listens is I was able to suggest my band for those in the family who could not find a band with less than 10 monthly listens.
