The Name Is In and Future Music (some more discussion)

So, the OP-1 Field finally has a name. We have decided on Condu for the name. It is actually tied to two lines of thought we were having. The first was due to the roll, everything flows through Condu (much like it did for Topper). In this way he is sort of like the Conduit for the musical creation.

Second, Condu has taken more of a lead reviewing with us. He is a bit tougher then Topper was (though musically he still wants what is inside of us to flow out, even if no one will like it – but we should). From this perspective and the adding of little ideas here and there he is more of a Conductor. This seemed more tame than “Musical Overlord” that Condu was pushing for.

The group has made a pact to not let Condu see the movie Whiplash. That might take all of this to a whole new level and we enjoy the friendship. If you have not seen it, it is an interesting story, but not something we are interested in getting ourselves into.

As far as future music goes, there was a suggestion to pause the story, and get on with something more creative first, then come back to the story. This was turned down as there is a very important element being added with the story. The spacecraft make a new close friend, and she as well as the Aliens are sort of practical and moral guides for them in space. Though the personalities of the spacecraft was shaped from decades of watching humans on earth, they do need this type of support as in space they run into situations that would just not happen on earth.

Finally, the next album has some complications which will take us some time, but this has been exasperated by the switch from Topper to Condu. The learning curve is not as big as it was initially with Topper (a lot of it is the same). However, there is still some learning to do and some experimenting. In fact I will probably come out with another video of me showing some of the things I learned playing on Condu before we get the next album to far in.
