We have been working a Christmas song recently. The reason for this is a hold on the story. The next album will start exactly where the last one ended (at the rest area). Once Flash picks a brochure we get to hear it. Though we call it a brochure, it is different than what we are used to on Earth (folded piece of paper with words and pictures). The brochure Flash picks creates a holographic projection that can be watched and listened to. The spacecraft are recreating what they heard for us. As such I needed to create a voice for the AIs (this is done now, but they wanted to work on the Christmas song while I did that).
They have recorded a Christmas song while I was doing this (a famous standard simplified, but with a soliloquy by Flash - I will not name to save the surprise). This is ready for me to add the vocals. However, while trying to add them, I found they used a different key than we normally use for vocal pieces and as such have gone outside my range making it a bit of a stretch for me to hit the higher notes.
Since I am already using the VT-4 to create their voices, DarkStar has suggested that I use the pitch offset feature to allow offset the range into what I am more comfortable with. I am not sure how this will work (yes, I will hear the offset in the headphones, but I am not a singer and have never tried this). I will be giving it a go, but if it does not work, I have pointed out the guys should be ready to re-record the song in a better key.
Either way once we are done with the Christmas song, we will get back into the next album. We hope you are all enjoying the last album.
