What is Orbital Rhapsody Music

So, we are still working through the first song.  This is a bit more than just working on a song, but really a process.  As stated last time, the music we have released so far was really written for us on Earth, and the addition of the psychic element in space just added to it.  Now they are trying to take the songs they play in space and translate them back for us.

The feeling is once we work out the process we should be in good shape going forward on other songs (basically though this first song will take a while, it will be worth it in the long run and the rest of the songs will come quickly).  In this process we are running into two issues.  One more general that will affect all our music going forward and one specific for this song but could also affect us a bit going forward.

For the general issue, we really need to define music for us.  What are we looking for in a song.  For us DarkStar broke it down best:

“An Orbital Rhapsody song is an audio creation that reflects the feelings and emotions we feel with respect to the inspiration created in a way to hopefully help the listener have the same feelings.”

In order to get this raw feeling of emotion, we have forgone using a DAW.  We want the raw emotions that are recorded directly into Condu (the OP-1).  We do not want processing on top of this, what we put together as a team, is what we release.  It might not be perfect (let’s be honest, if you have listened, you know it will not be perfect), but it is what came out of us.  It captures what we felt in the moment while recreating the effect.

This came into question when DarkStar wanted to use a synth on Condu with a sequencer for one of the parts.  Some thought this was like processing (maybe pre processing instead of post processing).  All the beats will line up perfectly etc, which is not what we normally get.  This was argued pretty hard.  On one side, we had the Condu is part of the band and should be able to be more fully utilized in making the songs.  On the other, Condu was not there, and could not know how to bring the feelings out.

In this case, it was decided it was alright to use Condu and a sequencer.  The part DarkStar was looking to evoke was not what they were feeling so much as describing the scene (basically what they were hearing).  If they could hear the same thing, but using Condu to recreate it better opposed to themselves, then that was fine.

As this has already gotten long enough, I will save the other discussion topic for next time (along with some other topics).  Hopefully after that we can start putting some music together and get going.

Still Working Back

Due to the recovery as well as the plethora of spring activities that need to get done, I am still a bit behind. As a catch up, I have been enjoying a bit of a swell in Apple Play Listens the last two

Been out a bit

Sorry for the lack of updates. I had a surgery last month, and then ended up back in the hospital due to complicates. I am recovering well at this point, and should be getting back at it soon. Unti
